I truly liked the "I'm on my Way" text message showing a pic of the service tech and the short bio...I've not seen this before but I enjoyed the information. Tech was on-time, efficient and provided a full update and invoice before leaving, can't really get much better than that...
I recently purchased a home with boiler heat. Noticed a small leak from one of the water lines. It was only a small leak and decided to call Black-Haak heating because there was a sticker on the boiler. I wasn't sure if they did the pipe repair or if I should hire a plumber. Black Haak had Brad over at the house later that day. Very professional. Explained what the process would be. Had the repair scheduled for a later date. Brad had the whole system drained, pipe and valve changed out and had my system operating within a couple of hours for far less than I was expecting. If you need service on a hot water boiler heating system....Brad at Black-haak Heating should be your first and only call.
Replaced water pressure switch. I cycled the unit a few times as well to make sure I had no fault codes. Unit is operating normally at this time.
Came out to replace a main board. Board was bad, however, unit still wouldn’t ignite. We have a bad pressure switch. There is proper voltage but not the right amount of water column. I tried to do other test as well to make sure that was the issue. Gas valve had 24v and hot surface igniter was lighting. Pressure switch wouldn’t allow flame to ignite due to the water column. Myself and Jerimiah were able to temporarily get the unit to heat, however, it will fail again. We need to return with parts ASAP.
Performed level 2 furnace cleaning. Unit was very dirty with rust chips when I arrived. Burners and pilot assembly are wearing out. Heat exchanger is very worn and has a lot of chipping. Inducer motor and gas valve bearings are starting to sound worn as well. Average life of system is typically 12-14 years. Unit is currently around the 20 year mark. Due to age, condition, cost to repair, and safety concerns in the future, second opinion is recommended.
11-14-18 installed humidifer and uv light. Tested so both are opperating.
Performed start up on new furnace. No gas leaks detected. Combustion analysis was normal. No CO detected in the air. Electrical and venting components are properly installed. High limit passed safety test. Heat rise was 46 degrees. I asked customer about adhusting the flame and he didn’t think the home was heating up quick enough. I found the filter was dirty and clogged. This may have been the issue. Gas pressures were normal. Unit is operating great at this time.
Completed 80% gas furnace replacement. Disconnected and removed old furnace. Set new furnace on blocks and reattached the ductwork, gas, electric and AC coil drain. Ran a new vent pipe into chimney. Run tested the furnace but will still need a technician start up. Thank you for choosing Black-Haak heating. Please take a moment to fill out our online survey.
Installed (2) floor receptacles and hung new dining room light
Water was leaking from the furnace. Found the collector box in the furnace is cracked causing the water leak. Also Jayne said the hrv timer wasn’t working. I took a look at the hrv. It’s running but the timer is broken and not working properly. We will get approval to replace these parts and come back to replace them.
Performed furnace clean and tune; started by inspecting and cleaning burners, I then checked and wiped down electrical components, then performed a combustion test along with checking gas pressures I did make an adjustment to the gas pressures back down to 3.5, I replaced 16x25x1 filter as well. System is currently operating normal at this time job complete
Performed level 2 furnace cleaning. Burners and flame sensor are clean. Heat exchanger looks good. Combustion analysis test was normal. No CO detected in the air.Electrical and venting were tight. Drain is clean. Unit is operating normal at this time. I wasn’t able to touch the fireplace due to the fact that it is a wood burning fireplace and not a gas fireplace. I referred the customer to Darboy Stone and Brick for their fireplace needs.
Performed double level 2 AC cleaning. No leaks detected at indoor coils. Electrical components tested good. Condenser coils are clean. Refrigerant charges looked okay. I recommended to customer that we return next year to keep an eye on the Freon levels. Both systems are cooling and operating normal at this time.
Was here for a air conditioning cleaning. Performed preferred customer air conditioning cleaning. Completed air conditioning cleaning form. Air conditioner is running normally at this time.
Performed (3) geothermal clean and tunes and (2) furnace clean and tunes. Both furnaces are operating safely. They are 23 years old and will need to be replaced soon. Upstairs geo: Found the capacitor was worn out. Gail said to change it. I replaced the capacitor. Cycled the geo unit and it is operating properly at this time. 1st floor geo: Found the capacitor was open and bad. I replaced the capacitor but the compressor still wouldn’t come on. Ohmed our compressor windings and found the internal overload switch is stuck open. The compressor is inoperable at this time. Pool geo: all the wiring and starting components are fine. The heat exchanger above unit is leaking and causing the bottom of the geo to fill with water, cleaned up water. I took pictures of the heat exchanger and will have Rick and Jamie come up with a solution to fix it. Pool geo does work. We need to quote a compressor replacement and also quote a new unit install to compare. Rick will come up with a quote and call

Completed AC replacement. Removed old unit and set new one outside. Cleaned and flushed the lineset and reconnected. Put 325 psi nitrogen in lines to test for leaks. Evacuated system to 500 microns then released refrigerant charge and performed complete start up. Reconnected drain line and run tested new unit. Thank you for choosing Black-Haak. Please take a moment to fill out our online survey.
Performed ac pressure check. Cycled system. Checked pressures and temps, system was showing a little low, however outdoor temps are low as well. No load in home. Sub cooling was 15. Super heat was 7. Split is 20. Due to conditions, I believe that the ac is charged correctly. If any issues come up this summer, customer will call. Job complete.
Found intake venting on ground when arrived. Re glued venting. Checked inside venting. All looks ok. End of call.
Rtu turned off. Cycled unit. Everything working properly. Checked to ensure warm coming from vents. Check into doing scheduled maintenance this spring. Filters need to be changed. Dan was unsure if it is included in first year with new units.
Tested all breakers in breaker box for 120volts. Checked garage Gfci outlet for power. Checked garage switch for power. Found bad switch. Bypassed switch for garage to have constant power. Lights are pull chain so no switch needed.
Verified condition of the furnace, gave options of replacements
No heat. Found the system off on lack of flame recognition. Found a large amount of rusting in system. Water leaking from ventor motor to onto the burner box, causing rusting on flame sensor. Found burners very worn, igniter very worn. Due to age, condition, and cost to repair, second opinion recommended. Furnace cleaning should be preformed to ensure safe oporation. Failure is expected. Second opinion set with Dan F for today.
Repaired a leak on the radiator.
Installed a new whole home humidifier.
