Kody was timely, knowledgeable and efficient in his work with my water heater and infloor hydronic heat. I would recommend him with the highest regard.
This was our first time using Black-Haak and we’ll definitely be calling them again for our heating & cooling needs. We had the last Friday time slot and Kody provided excellent professional service for our old furnace. He didn’t seem rushed at all and stayed until all work was completed perfectly.
Dan was awesome again. He does a great job explaining everything.

The BH team did a great job. They were in and out quickly. Installed the new furnace during the coldest temps. Left the furnace room very clean.
Performed package safety check; inspected the exhaust and intake PVC ensuring all connections were secured did have to replace a section due to a water leak, I then cycled the system on and checked gas pressures I did notice second stage wasn’t configured I was able to wire up 2nd stage heat, I then performed a combustion test verifying No CO in the airstream. Next cycled the AC on and hooked up gages. Both systems are currently operating normal at this time job complete

Furnace clean and tune. Cycled system. Checked heat exchanger. Found all chambers were rusted. No visible cracks found at this time. Removed and cleaned flame sensor and burners. Checked igniter, ok. Found ventor motor worn and major bearing noise. Checked and adjusted gas pressures to maximize efficiency. Checked for levels of CO and XS air in exhaust, normal levels found. System is worn, but operating normal. Ventor motor will fail. Average life of this unit is 14 years. Fireplace clean and tune. Cycled system. Cleaned glass, walls, under unit, and ignition system. Reassembled unit and cycled. System operating normal at this time. Ac clean and tune. Cycled system. Found a small indication of a possible leak on indoor coil. Checked electrical compartment on condenser. Capacitor tested ok. Contactor is worn. Tested compressor. Found it failed test with ohms of 60. Hooked up gauges and found system slightly low on refrigerant. Split was 17. Average life of this unit is 14 years. Syste
Furnace clean and tune. Cycled system. Checked heat exchanger. Fou;d all chambers have rust, but no visible cracks found at this time. Checked and cleaned burners and flame sensor. Ok. Found some signs of ware on igniter, but it tested ok. Checked and adjusted gas pressures to maximize efficiency. Found evidence of ventor motor being worn. Checked for levels of CO AND XS air in exhaust. Normal levels found. No CO found in airstream. System is worn, but operating normal at this time. Job complete.
Performed the level 2 furnace cleaning. The loud noise that the customer complained about is the venter motor. The motor bearings are worn and expected to fail. Upon further inspection, I found water damage in the blower compartment, possibly from the secondary heat exchanger. The primary heat exchanger is rusting and chipping. CO in the exhaust was larger than normal at 88 ppm. Average life of system is 12-15 years. Unit is currently 18 years old. Due to age, condition, and cost to repair, second opinion is recommended. Failure is expected. Even though the furnace is safe to run now, we cannot guarantee how long it will last after we leave today.
Performed the new furnace start up. No gas leaks detected. Combustion readings were normal. No CO detected in the air. Drain is working. High limit passed the safety test. Temp rise was 56 degrees. Unit is heating properly.
Unable to clean ac due to heavy rain. Checked indoor coil with refrigerant sniffer and found several indications of a leak in coil. Cycled system to see if flame sensor looses power. Checked incoming gas pressure. Pressure stayed well above 6iwc while firing. Checked manifold pressure and found that in 50% fire rate gas pressure dropped to .66iwc. Adjusted pressure up to .98iwc. Alert went away, but returned after a few mins when systen was not even calling for heat. After call for heat, alert went away. Jamie L will follow up. Office to reschedule ac cleaning. No charge for adjustment. Job complete.
Replaced control board and cycled the system on to verify operations. This system is currently operating normal at this time. Job complete
Inspector complained about a water leak on the furnace. I found that the leak was coming from the drain trap. Office will follow up with repair quote. Job complete
Furnace clean and tune. Cycled system. Checked heat exchanger. Found it rusting, but no visible cracks found at this time. Checked and cleaned burners and flame sensor. Found igniter with some wear on it. Deep etching found in one location. Tested ok at this time. Checked and adjusted gas pressures. Checked and found normal levels of CO and XS air in exhaust. No CO found in airstream. System is showing signs of being worn, but operating normal at this time. Job complete.
Performed preferred client air conditioner inspection. Checked the wiring at the thermostat and in the furnace. Checked the indoor coil for leaks. Did not find a leak in the indoor coil. Cycled the air conditioner. Checked the electrical. Found a worn capacitor. Couldn’t check the refrigerant levels due to the weather. The air conditioner is running at this time. The client will talk to her husband about replacing the capacitor.
No heat on basement infloor. Cycled the system. Found the pump controller not getting a call for heat. Found a broken wire in the thermostat. Also cleaned the water heater. I vacuumed out the water heater and cleaned the burner and flame sensor. Cycled the system. It’s operating properly at this time.
Matt has the main floor thermostat off but the room temperature was rising. I checked the furnace, it wasn’t running. Cycled the zone system. All the thermostat and dampers are working properly. The system is operating properly. The temperature on the main floor is rising because of the big south facing windows. The area is getting warmed from the solar gain from the sun. I performed a package clean and tune today. I replaced the furnace filter. Found the bearings on the exhaust motor in the furnace are getting worn and noisy. This can lead to a breakdown in the future. The furnace is operating safely at this time. Cleaned the air conditioner and checked Freon charge. The air conditioner is operating properly. The furnace and air conditioner are 11 years old. Average life of heating and cooling equipment is about 15 years.

Performed furnace clean and tune; inspected the exhaust and intake PVC ensuring all connections were secured, removed and cleaned the burners along with the flame sensor, cycled the system on and checked gas pressures did notice system would not engage second stage heat found not W2 wire to terminal board, also performed a combustion test and did receive over 3000PPM of CO going out of the exhaust in second stage heat. This system is currently not safe to operate at this time due to the failed heat exchanger. Second opinion scheduled with Dan F today. Job complete
Performed the level 2 furnace cleaning. Burners and flame sensor are clean. Heat exchanger looks good. Gas and exhaust levels are normal. No CO detected in the air. High limit passed the safety check. Heat rise was 42 degrees. Unit is currently heating properly.
Performed the new furnace start up. No gas leaks detected. Gas and exhaust levels are normal. No Co detected in the air. Heat rise was 50 degrees. High limit passed the safety check. Unit is currently heating properly.
Completed gas furnace replacement. Disconnected and removed old furnace and set the new one back on blocks in its place. Reconnected the gas, electric, pvc venting and ductwork. The geo unit was getting noisy and vibrating. I found a loose mounting bolt on the fan motor causing a noise when the blower would run. I tightened the bolt and checked all the bolts on the blower and made sure they were tight. Also found the filter was dirty. I replaced the filter. Checked heat of extraction, had 30,000 btu, geo is rated for 22,000 at these conditions. The geo is operating properly
