We had Black-Haak Heating, Inc. out to our home to give us a quote to add a generator for us. We had a few quotes and Black-Haak was the only company that went beyond the generator and offered to upgrade our electrical panel as well. Black-Haak’s electrician Joel was very knowledgeable and helpful with the panel upgrade and we took his recommendation and had the work done. We also had the generator installed. We were extremely pleased with the level of service we received from Black-Haak Heating from their office staff to the technicians and electricians who were in our home. We wanted to take a moment to thank you and your staff for the excellent service prior to, during, and after the install of our geothermal heating system. When you had originally stopped by to give us a quote we already had selected a different vendor, who had been recommended by family. We thought at that point LP was our best option. Our due diligence included obtaining another quote so we called you because the oil company we worked with said that other customers had used Black-Haak and Christensen & Wisnet Heating and Cooling (though they made it clear they could not give “referrals”).
We enjoyed meeting you during that first visit and were intrigued with the thoughts of geothermal. No other vendor had suggested this option and we did not know that it was viable for our area. As we investigated this option it became clear that it was indeed a good potential option for us. Rick and Jim took time with us to calculate balance point and other factors. They also took a great amount of time explaining the benefits and risks as well as answering all of our many questions. It became apparent that there was great knowledge, depth, and experience in this area. We could tell from talking with Rick that geo is more than a job, it is a passion and that your customers benefit from this commitment.
We have been very pleased with the treatment and service from all the staff. The office staff was always professional and helpful (Chris, Dawn, Tina…). We can’t say enough about the crew that installed and worked diligently to have everything just right for us. People like Rick, Zak, Dean, Andy, Jamie, Tom, Joel and the others really seemed to care about us and our job. A couple of them even felt like family in their care and treatment of us. We are so appreciative for the great service you have all provided.
Speaking of great service, we also have to thank the vendor you have chosen for the geo system itself – GeoComfort. The first unit that went in had a mechanical problem going into 2nd stage operation, which can happen, and we were pleased to learn that GeoComfort backed their product and made provision to have a new unit sent within 2 days! We were very appreciative. This really stands out, since it has become increasingly difficult to find good companies that produce quality products and are willing to stand behind them. We are sold on GeoComfort and have begun recommending them and you to our friends, family and colleagues. We also looked into buying their stock because a company with this level of dedication to end customers should do well.
We are happy with the performance of the unit. Just as you had said, our house has been comfortable during this frigid season and has uniform heat throughout each area. We kept the thermostat set to 72F for most of the time (though it was a tad too warm for us so we now have set it to 71F). After the replacement unit was installed we never dropped below 68F even though we did not ever have auxiliary resistive heat powered up. An example was on January 5th when the outdoor temperature was -13F at 7:30am with winds around 5MPH out of the southwest and we were at 68F, with no aux heat. This was truly amazing to us. As I write this letter it is 12F (8MPH winds from the west) outside and only stage 1 is running at this moment to maintain 71F inside our two-story 2320 sq ft home.
We are also excited about the financial savings as compared to our fuel oil system which was one of the reasons we were so eager to replace the fuel oil furnace. Last season (2013-2014) we spent over $2,463 (705 gal) on fuel oil. This season since 12/2/2014 to date we have used 4054W, which at the current rate of 13.9 cents is $563. We will save significant money in addition to not having to worry about the threat of running out of fuel during a cold snap and needing to set up deliveries. It is a more efficient system and we are thankful that you had recommended it.
