Nice follow-up from Black Hawk, great service from Julian.

Review of Black-Haak Heating

The service call was on time and well done. Julian was efficient and personable. Should have advised me about servicing the AC at extra cost prior to doing it. It was OK because it should be done but a heads up would be nice.

Review of Black-Haak Heating

Thought you could have moved the unit closer to our home. We asked if we should remove the plant, and you said you had a shovel to move it out of the way. When it was all done, the plant did not get moved, and the unit seems to be out away from the building a little too far. Also, you sent someone out the day prior to measure. He was supposed to get here at 8:30, and didn't arrive until 8:50. This made getting to work on time difficult.

Ac clean and tune. No cool. Cycled system. Furnace fan kicked on, but not condenser fan or compressor. Opened electrical compartment. Tested capacitor. Found capacitor has failed and is below tolerance. Replaced with new 35/5 capacitor. Cycled system. Condenser fan and compressor fired. Used coil cleaner on condenser coil. Hooked up gauges and checked pressures and temps. Found indoor coil at 38 degrees, subcooling was 8, indoor temp split was only 12. Checked indoor coil with refrigerant sniffer. Found indications of a leak forming on indoor coil. Tested compressor and fan motor. Compressor tested ok. Fan motor tested low, but still in the normal range. Average life expectancy for this unit is 14 years. This system exceeds this expectancy, and unit is very worn. Future failure is expected. Second opinion is recommended. Job complete.

Performed package clean and tune; inspected the exhaust and intake PVC ensuring all connections were secured, removed and cleaned the burners along with the flame sensor, cycled the system and checked gas pressures, performed a combustion test verifying no CO in the airstream I did receive higher than normal amounts of CO and excess air in the exhaust future failure of the heat exchanger is expected. Also inducer motor failed at 60%. I then cycled the UV light on Bob had mentioned he just replaced the uv light bulbs this system was installed 17 years ago office to quote ballast replacement/new Uv light. I then cleaned the AC system, inspected condenser electrical compartment and tested components the capacitor tested ok but is showing wear as for the fan motor is rated for 1.1 amps and I pulled .6 these components are expected to fail. These systems are currently operating but there is no guarantee for how long. I highly recommend looking into getting them replaced in the future possib

Trnasfer switch could not be mounted. In the house panel was in a finished room in the basement and access to the unfinished basement was not possible. Installed generator interlock kit and inlet instead of transfer switch. Homeowner said he will try it and if it does not work out for him we will need to order an outdoor rated transfer switch for him.

Preformed cleaning and system evaluation on find out why the one u it isn’t cooling enough. The fan for the master bedroom is plugged with lint and dust. We will need to research the best way to clean the indoor unit and return to do that. I couldn’t get a vacuum in there and there was no way to get one in there. The rest of they system looks good no other problems of issue with it. Thanks Brad

Was here for a furnace cleaning and to do a gas leak search. Performed gas leak search. Found that the gas valve is leaking gas on the outlet side going to the burners. Also the leaking LP gas has corroded the inducer motor bearings and was running loudly. Changed out the inducer motor under a parts warranty. Will have to return with a new gas valve. Office to order a new gas valve and schedule an appointment to make repair. Performed preferred customer furnace cleaning. Cleaned the burners and the flame sensor. Wiped out the inside of the furnace. Cycled the furnace. Performed furnace combustion test. No co in the air stream at this time. Left the gas turned off to the furnace to prevent any more gas from leaking. Also the customer hasn’t had the air conditioner serviced in a couple of years. Upgraded the customer to the package cleaning. Office to call to schedule the cleaning.

The customer has a package cleaning. Was here for the air conditioner portion of the cleaning. Cleaned up the unit. Electrical is ok. Checked the refrigerant levels. The refrigerant levels are good. While testing the zone system thermostats. Found that the basement thermostat temperature would no longer adjust in the cooling mode. Replaced the thermostat with a T4. Cycled the air conditioner. The air conditioner is running normally at this time.

Refrigerant charge was normal. All HVAC equipment is running properly at this time.

Performed the level 2 package cleaning. Furnace: Burners and ignition are clean. Heat exchanger is starting to wear. Combustion readings were a little high, but not concerning at this time. High limit passed the safety test. Temo rise was 42°. Furnace is operating normally and safely at this time. However, due to age and condition, long life expectancy cannot be guaranteed. AC: No leaks detected. Electrical components tested good. Capacitor tested well. Condenser was cleaned with water and nu brite. Refrigerant charge was normal. Subcool was 8° with a 17° temp split. Unit is cooling properly.

Performed the level 2 AC cleaning. No leaks detected. Electrical components tested good. Condenser was cleaned with water and nu brite. Refrigerant tests had odd results. Possibly due to the weather outside. The temperature in the basement was in the lower 50’s and it was 66° upstairs. The outdoor temperature was also in the lower 50’s. My gauges read good pressures and everything should be good to go for hotter weather. I told the customer to give us a call if the AC isn’t cooling right. As of right now, the unit is cooling properly.

Ac clean and tune. Cleared drain line. Checked indoor coil with refrigerant sniffer. Found indications of leak on indoor coil. Cycled system. Checked and cleaned electrical compartment. Tested compressor and fan motor, both ohmed in bad range at 60 ohms or lower. Capacitor and contactor are very worn and recommend that those also be replaced. Used coil cleaner on condenser coil. Hooked up gauges and checked pressures and temps. Found the system slightly low on R-22 refrigerant. Subcooling was at 12 super heat was 11. Checked indoor temp split, split was 16. Unable to get numbers for condenser off of compressor. I understand that the unit is 23 years old. Average life of this system is 14 years. Due to the age, condition, and cost to repair this unit, second opinion is recommended. Future failure is expected. Job complete.

Performed boiler clean and tune. Found the sparker wire boot is cracked and needs to be replaced. Also noticed the aquastat had water dripping on it in the past and is very rusty and could cause a breakdown in the future. The boiler is about 29 years old, average life of boilers is about 25 years. The office will quote a price on the sparker wire.

Completed Gas Furnace replacement. Disconnected and removed old furnace and then set new one on blocks in its place. Reconnected the gas, electric, PVC vent pipes, and duct-work to new furnace. connected it to the Furnace. Run tested the furnace, but will still need a technician start up. The Office will follow up to schedule a technician to return to do the Furnace efficiency startup, which is required for warranty purposes. Thank you for choosing Black-Haak Heating. Because I found Indicators of a leak on the AC system I highly recommend having maintenance done this spring.
